ABOUT
Lena Aframova predominantly practices a multimedia approach, curatorial and participatory practices.
She deals with issues of identity: studies her environment and internal processes at different points in time and space. Writing text plays a significant role in her creative practice. She sees herself as a translator from visual to verbal language and vice versa.
For the last 20 years Lena has been living in Japan, the previous 10 years she lived in Israel, and the first 16 years in Ukraine. She thinks that traveling across the borders of different cultures is the most exciting of all journeys.
As a photographer and journalist, she has collaborated with such international publications as the New York Times, Newsweek, International Herald Tribune, Russian BBC, El Mundo, NHK and various Russian and Israeli media (Ogonyok magazine and others).
